Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears
Beyond Penguins and Polar Bears is an online magazine integrating science, literacy, and the Polar Regions. Designed for K–5 teachers, the website contains lessons, unit plans, podcasts and free webinars. Teachers can also explore literacy strategies and science concepts in the Arctic and Antarctica.

EPSCoR at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks
The Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) is a nationwide research funding program administered by the National Science Foundation. In partnership with the University of Alaska at Fairbanks (UAF), undergraduates, graduate students and faculty members at UAF conduct active K-12 education, public outreach, and workforce development programs in conjunction with a research focus on permafrost and infrastructure.

Barrow Arctic Science Consortium
The Barrow Arctic Science Consortium (BASC) is a community-based organization dedicated to connecting scientists and community members. In addition to facilitating research and educational activities pertaining to Alaska’s North Slope, the adjacent portions of the Arctic Ocean and Chukotka (Чуко́тка), Russia, the organization provides logistical support for Arctic research and strives to advance the exchange of knowledge between scientific researchers and the people of the North Slope.

International Polar Year, 2007 - 2008
The International Polar Year (IPY) is a large scientific program focused on the Arctic and the Antarctic from March 2007 to March 2009. Organized through the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), IPY is involved in over 200 projects, with thousands of scientists from over 60 nations examining a wide range of physical, biological and social research topics.
